Dual Credit Option

As a result of an Articulation Agreement with Gloucester County College, students at Gateway High School may receive both high school and college credits for certain high school courses. These credits are called "Dual Credits" and they apply to the following Gateway High School courses: AP U.S. History I & II, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP English IV, AP Calculus, French V, Spanish V and German V.

Dual credit is available for students enrolled in the district's AP classes. A GCC Dual Credit Application ($20 fee) must be completed by the AP student during the month of October. It is important that students pursuing dual credit complete applications during the first year of their first AP class enrollment. Once the student has completed the application, additional AP classes will automatically earn GCC credit without submitting additional applications. If the student waits until his/her senior year to apply for dual credit, only courses taken during his/her senior year will earn GCC credit. This is GCC's policy.

At the end of the year if the student has received a final average of at least a B in any of these courses, he/she may be eligible to receive college credit. The procedure for obtaining those credits is as follows:

1. Submit a GCC Dual Credit Application. Applications are available from your counselor.
2. Include a check to GCC in the amount of $20.00
3. Return the completed application and check to the Guidance Department

Since a small percentage of colleges do not accept Dual Credits, it is the student's responsibility to inquire with regard to the transferability of these GCC credits to a specific college or university of choice. For additional information please see your guidance counselor.
